Books for Boys

I enjoy purchasing books with the Christmas money we receive from my grandparents. This year, I purchased Little Boys Bible Storybook for Mothers and Sons, Classic Starts The Three Musketeers, and The Adventures of Tom Sawyer.

Currently the boys (mostly the older two, but Bear will take a snuggle and the opportunity to stay up a little later every chance he gets) and I are enjoying reading Classic Starts The Three Musketeers.

When we have completed our adventure with The Three Musketeers, we are planning to watch the Disney adaptation of the book with "Mickey the Mouse."

We recently finished reading The Incredible Journey by Sheila Burnford. We are anxiously anticipating the arrival of the movie from Netflix.

I love reading with my guys. I love when months later they bring up something from one of the books we read. Example:
Sweets: (Looking at a picture of the Eiffel Tower) Mom, isn't that where one of our friends is from?
Me: (We constantly have our world map out and talk about where people we know have traveled and lived.) Who? (Confused)
Sweets: You know the girl with the... (lifts his shirt and makes a cutting movement across his belly).
Me: You mean Madeline?

We had read Madeline by Ludwig Bemelmans several weeks earlier as part of our Five In A Row curricula.

We have, also, enjoyed reading Misty of Chincoteague. This is a wonderful book to read with children. The story is about a brother and sister who after helping their grandfather buy, break, and sell horses desire a horse of their own. The story is based on real life experiences.

We checked these books out at the library recently. We had it laying around our house right up to the MUST return date. I enjoyed looking through it and want to do several projects, but, I need to be on top of things and get the supplies together to do them the next time these books come to our home.
